FROM “SOMEONE SHOULD” TO A CLEAR NEXT STEP

Give the next job a person.
Keep the completed work on record.

  1. 01

    Capture the task.

Save a maintenance job, driver problem, or planned repair in Tasks & planning. Add photos or quotes after saving.

  2. 02

    Assign and schedule it.

Choose a current household member and track Requested or Scheduled status. Keep the responsibility visible alongside the vehicle.

  3. 03

Close it with a service record.

A completed task links to a saved service. “Log completed work” records the job and closes the task together, keeping plans separate from work actually done.

PLAN REPAIRS TOGETHER

See what you spent.
And what’s still ahead.

Compare a vehicle’s monthly repair budget with recorded service spending and estimates for open tasks targeted for that month. Once work is completed, its actual service cost takes the place of the estimate in that comparison.

Keep uncertainty visible.

Unknown estimates and unscheduled work stay separate. A budget helps you plan; it cannot predict an unexpected repair or supply a missing quote.

Share the record behind the cost.

Keep DIY and shop work, invoice details, receipts, and warranty notes together so another household member can understand what happened.

BEFORE YOU INVITE EVERYONE

Family garage questions, answered.

How many people and vehicles can share a Family garage?

Family supports unlimited vehicles and up to 6 users total, including the garage owner. Cars, trucks, and RVs can all belong to the garage. Pending invitations reserve a user place until accepted, revoked, or expired.

How do I invite someone?

Choose Household users in your garage or Account. Enter the email the person will use to sign in, create the invitation, and copy or share the private link yourself. Underhood does not send the invitation email. The person can sign in or create an account before accepting. Invitations expire after 7 days and can be revoked.

What can household members change?

Members can view and edit shared garage records. Only the owner can remove whole vehicles or clear the garage. The owner controls membership and can remove a member’s access at any time. Shared access is not a read-only invitation.

Will joining merge my personal garage with the household?

No. Your existing personal garage stays separate. Switch garages from Account to work in the correct one. Joining a household does not automatically move your personal vehicles or records into it.

Can I assign a maintenance task to someone?

Yes. In Tasks & planning, save a maintenance task, driver problem, or planned repair and assign a current household member. Track Requested, Scheduled, or Completed status. A completed task must link to a saved service; Log completed work creates the service and closes the task together.

How do repair budgets handle unfinished work?

Repair budgets compare a vehicle’s monthly budget with recorded service spending and estimates on open tasks targeted for that month. Completed jobs use their actual service costs rather than their estimates. Unknown estimates and unscheduled work are shown separately.

Can everyone use their own phone?

Yes. Each member signs in with their own account and can use Underhood in a modern browser on iPhone, Android, Mac, or Windows. An internet connection is required to load and save garage records.
